Discuss US-Indonesia Strategic Partnership

VIVAnews – US President Barrack Obama telephoned Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, on Friday, March 13, to discuss efforts by the two countries to overcome the world economic crisis.

In his 5-minute telephone conversation with Obama, Yudhoyono discussed various strategic partnerships between Indonesia and the United States.

“[They] discussed US-Indonesia comprehensive partnership and [Indonesian and US] preparation for the [upcoming] G-20 Summit in London,” presidential spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said via an SMS text message to VIVAnews, on Friday evening, March 13.

Yudhoyono and Obama noted the importance of cooperation on several key issues, including education, health care, climate change, bird flu, and counterterrorism.

Yudhoyono and Obama also discussed various regional and international issues, including Obama’s commitment to forging a new and different kind of relationship with Islamic countries and how to make progress on human rights and democracy in Myanmar.
