Mandiri Lowers Credit Target

VIVAnews - PT Bank Mandiri Tbk is targeting to provide Rp 2.5 trillion worth of credit for multifinance companies. The amount is lower compared to last year’s Rp 3 trillion, due to the downturn in the automotive industry.

“This year, the amount of credit for multifinance companies is 20 percent lower. This is due to the 30 percent decrease in the industry”, Commercial Banking Director of Bank Mandiri, Zulkifli Zaini in Jakarta, Friday, May 29.

Bank Mandiri has provided credit for 30 multifinance corporations all over Indonesia with Rp 5 trillion worth of outstanding credit.

According to Zaini, credit demands during the first three months of 2009 were not decreasing due to the cutback in the automotive industry. “It was getting better in April but it hasn’t got back to normal”, he said.

Zaini also said that the interest rates given have decreased by 15 to 16 percent (fixed and floating interest rates). Meanwhile, the commercial credit interest rates were worth 12 to 14.5 percent.

Commercial Banking Mandiri is a business unit which manages customers’ funds and credit with credit limit of Rp 5 to 500 billion and small businesses with the limit of Rp 100 million to Rp 5 billion.
